New York City FC have the chance to make it three consecutive wins to start the season when their former manager, coach Kreis brings his Lions to NYC.
In their last game against LA Galaxy, NYFC had to fight for a 2-1 win despite dominating the game, while Orlando City are still playing for their first win of the season despite playing two consecutive home games. They are also struggling with injuries and it would be interesting to see how they perform in their first away game of the season.
NYFC have won their opening two fixtures for the first time in their short history, following back-to-back wins over Sporting Kansas City (2-0) and LA Galaxy (2-1). David Villa also made it four straight MLS season openers when he netted in his first of the season.
The NYFC team have started the season well both collectively and on individual levels, with the likes of Ben Sweat, Anton Tinnerholm and Alex Ring shinning, their fans would be expecting them to shine in this game also.
Orlando City started the season looking like one of the most prepared teams, but they have failed to record a win despite playing their first two games at home. The Lions have also had to deal with some injuries which have left their attacking line up very short of options. Coach Kreis watched as Stefano Pinho left the Orlando City stadium on crutches in their last game against Minnesota, and Dom Dwyer is still out injured for at least the next two weeks.
The positive ahead of this game is that Sacha Kjelstan is available for selection after serving suspensions. Kjelstan has been one of the best creators in the league since his time in the New York Red Bulls, and fans would be expecting him to help them get their first win of the season.
