Another center-back comes to the rescue after Amro Tarek and Lamine Sané could miss the season opener against DC United tonight. The 30-year-old defender Chris Schuler is the last Orlando City signing for the current campaign as the official Twitter account of the Lions showed yesterday.
The former Real Salt Lake center-back is a good addition to head coach Jason Kreis’ roster as he fills a key spot in the defensive line after José Aja’s departure to Vancouver Whitecaps last week for Targeted Allocation Money.
With 113 appearances and 7 goals for Real Salt Lake since 2010, Schuler offers to Orlando City MLS-proven experience and another choice for Kreis in case of injuries in the back-line, adding depth to the roster.
Definitely, he is available for the first Orlando City’s MLS match of the season meaning he could be a starter alongside the Lions’ captain Jonathan Spector tomorrow if both Tarek and Sané are left out for the initial line-up due to physical complications, which will be a very demanding debut for the defender from Missouri.
