Orlando City’s next scrimmage preview: The Chicago Fire

Chicago Fire will be the last preseason scrimmage for the Lions this 2018 preseason when they face each other today Saturday, February 24th, at the Orlando City Stadium just one week before the regular MLS season finally begins.


Rafael Ramos’ new club is one of the most important teams of the Eastern Conference today. In the 2017 season the Men in Red qualified to the playoff after ending the regular campaign in third position just below New York City and Toronto.


Their cohesion as a team makes them a great side to prove many of Jason Kreis’ plans for this 2018 season for Orlando City.

 

If the Lions accomplish to control a match playing a very strong and experienced team as Chicago Fire it’s plausible they have a chance to reach the firsts positions at the and of the regular campaign.


In relation to Chicago Fire’s plans, head coach Veljko Paunović will try to replicate 2017’s performance to qualify for the playoff stage again and avenge their 4-0 defeat against New York Red Bulls in the qualification round.

As the main forward, Nemanja Nikolic is a great goal-scorer with European experience (Champions League) and great talent. He scored 24 goals in 34 matches of regular season demonstrating how dangerous he is in front of the goalkeeper.
