In a match closed to the public at Lake Sylvan Park the Lions defeated Minnesota United FC 4-1 and showed how well the preparations are going for the upcoming 2018 regular season.
Chris Mueller is increasing all the expectations around him for next campaign after scoring two goals today, demonstrating he is capable of providing great performances against MLS sides.
On the other hand, Sacha Kljestan took the opportunity and scored one for himself, taking advantage in the “leadership” run against his fellow senior teammates.
This is the second match in the preseason so far, being both wins with +3 goals on the score sheet for the Lions. This confirms the trend of an offensive mindset and control play-style OrlandoLionsDens has been reporting in these three weeks of trainings.
However, not all are good news for the Lions. Cam Lindley, Tom Dwyer and Josué Colmán have suffered injuries this week being the latter the worst. According to head coach Jason Kreis, Colmán’s injury is severe and could be weeks to see him play again.
For Lindley, Kreis assured he had a hamstring injury but didn’t tell how many days he will be out. Nevertheless, Dom Dwyer problems are not as bad as his teammate’s injuries since he could be ready for next scrimmage against Philadelphia Union.
The Paraguayan’s injury is a big problem for the club as he is one of the main players in the roster for 2018. Moreover, it seems he could be out till midseason meaning he would only be available for half season. However, the team must give him time to recover well and comeback stronger than before.
