February 10, 2018

The current US Soccer Federation (USSF) vice-president takes a step forward and becomes the new main leader of this institution after the presidential election at the National Council Meeting in Orlando, Florida.

With 68.6% of the votes in the round 3, Cordeiro won over very important people like former player of the US women's national team Hope Solo, former player of the US national team Eric Wynalda and current president of Soccer United Marketing Kathy Carter.

On the other hand, there is finally a new president for the USSF since 2006 when Sunil Gulati begun his 12 years dominance over American soccer, which sets a new era for both Major League Soccer and US National Team.

However, after the US Men’s National Team did not qualify to the 2018 World Cup in Russia, people all over the country expects a lot of changes to improve the national soccer’s situation. The next 4 years in Cordeiro’s term will be full of expectations and opinions surrounding it, meaning the brand-new president will have a huge challenge ahead of him.

For now, Cordeiro will assume his position with immediate effect and will start to work looking forward to the Major League Soccer start around the corner.
