Orlando City have continued their quest to bring in some of the best players ahead of the new season, and this time they have landed a left center-back, Amro Tarek.
The 25 years old joins on a one-year loan deal from the Egyptian side, Wadi Degla FC, and the deal involve a club-option to buy at the end of the season.
Tarek is familiar with the MLS as he made a single appearance for Columbus Crew in the 2016 MLS season, having joined them similarly on loan from Real Betis. He was also born in the US city of Los Angeles but moved back to Egypt when he was just a toddler.
This signing is a huge statement from the Lions that they are committed to strengthening each area of their team having appeared to be focused on only the offensive side earlier in the transfer window.
Tarek is an athletic left back who is also adept at playing as a center back. He comes to provide competition for a place with the likes of Mohamed El-Munir, Victor Pagliari Giro, and Donny Toia.
Niki Budalic spoke of the Lion's delight at adding Tarek to their team and re-echoed how the player’s familiarity with the MLS and personal desire to be a success on this shores would help him become a success.
Tarek has made 11 appearances in the Egyptian league this season and made 25 appearances for Enppi across all competitions last season. Overall he has made 143 career appearances, scoring 7 goals and providing 8 more.
Although he is just 25, Tarek has had a fairly nomadic career, with stints in Germany, Egypt, Spain, and the United States of America.
