After the protracted transfer of Cyle Larin to Besiktas has been agreed, we have now finally come to the realization of the inevitable.
We all knew that Cyle Larin would get his wish to play in Europe eventually, but what we didn’t know was when the club would agree to the sale and what effort would they make to replace his goals for the team?
At the moment only Dom Dwyer is an established and proven MLS goal scorer in the team. The likes of Stefano Pinho and Jose Villarreal could still come handy, but the team may need to sign an experienced MLS or European goal scorer or even a youngster with a proven goalscoring record.
In this article, we look at some well known MLS scorers as well as underrated European league goal scorers who can help the Lions with goals in this new season.
Will Bruin, 28 years, Sounders FC
Will Bruin is an MLS veteran who has been banging in the goals for years. His current record stands at 61 goals and 24 assists in 209 MLS games. His experience would help the Lions score more goals with the amount of goal providers the team has this year.
Market Value: $1 million
Franco Soldano, 23 years, Unión Santa Fé
This young Argentine has been lighting up the local Argentine Primera division, and it remains a surprise why a European side has not come to take him away. Soldano has netted 7 times and provided 2 assists in just 13 games, he is a finisher and would help improve Orlando City’s conversion rate.
Market Value: $4 million
Jonathan Calleri, 24 years, Maldonado
Calleri had a terrible spell at West Ham last season, we can’t blame him as his team did underwhelmingly in that particular season also. However, he has discovered some of his goalscoring touch at UD Las Palmas as he has netted 5 league goals already this season. His European experience would make him very valuable to the Lions team this new season.
Market Value $ 4 million.
Enzo Crivelli, 22 years, Angers SCO
Crivelli is one of those attackers who get unfairly judged because of their poor goal returns, however, he remains valuable to his team with his height, movement and holdup play helping his teammates score the goals. He would be the perfect strike partner for Dom Dwyer.
Market Value: $3 million
Ashley Fletcher, 22 years, Middlesbrough
This former Manchester United youngster is having a slow start in the English second tier, but he is obviously an amazing talent. Middlesbrough would be willing to join Orlando City on loan and that would be a major coup for the Lions ahead of the new season.
Market Value: $3.5 million
