Sporting Lisbon official Twitter account announced they reached an agreement with MLS to transfer Oriol Rosell to Orlando City.
After Atlanta United’s and City’s boards got interested by Uri Rosell’s performances, The Lions stepped forward and got the Spaniard transfer for $500,000 plus a bonus for every goal scored. Nevertheless, Sporting Lisbon still owns 30% of Uri’s contract in case a future sell of the player.
With this signing, Rosell becomes the 11th player that joins the pack for 2018 season, reinforcing -even more- the whole squad. However, Rosell would be the main defensive player that Kreis receives in this offseason so far, since almost all the new transfers are offensive/attacking players.
The Spaniard plays as a defensive midfielder or center back, granting versatility and experience to the backline. Regarding achievements, Rosell became the first Spain-native that wins a MLS title after he did it with Sporting Kansas City in 2013.
Rosell returns to Major League Soccer after a few years in Portuguese soils. His last European club is Portimonense, a modest team where he was on loan by Sporting Lisbon.
